Rushing Mountain Stream

I spent a good part of the day going through some photos of Colorado that I took last July, so I decided to draw from one of my favorites for you tonight. Here's the first two steps of my sketching system done in pencil. I'll add the wash tomorrow. I'm thinking of posting a Colorado shot for our next challenge. Anybody interested?

Smoky Mountains Sketch and New Challenge

Keeping it simple, here's my interpretation of our last challenge photo from the Smoky Mountains. Today I'm also posting one of my photos from last week's trip to Colorado. Raven was with me everywhere I went on this trip. You can see here that this handsome fellow eagerly posed for me.

Rufous Hummingbird

It's a beautiful morning here in Gunnison Colorado. The birds are very active. I've seen several Rufous hummers here. Jerry says our birds at home are doing well and he's busy filling our seven feeders 3 times a day!

Plane Drawing

This image is from my sketchbook. I did this drawing on the plane on my way to Crested Butte, CO last week. Sketching really made the time "FLY BY"! This is a native Rocky Mountain Wildflower, "Serviceberry Flowers".

Lost Lake

We did a three mile hike around Lost Lake and Dollar Lake today. The trail was rocky but easy and the vistas were amazing.

Plein Air Sketching in Colorado

Colorado Landscape

I'm sitting here at the Denver Airport. I've got a few hours to wait for my friends to arrive, before we can drive out to Crested Butte. I can't seem to send out to my google groups from here. I will try again when I get to Crested Butte. I did some sketching on the plane and it really made the time go by faster.
